2007 Valdez Short field takeoff and landing contest. This Cirrus joined the Supercubs and Maules for an attempt at the contest with takeoff rolls of 425 and 450 feet. Not bad for a Cirrus! Pilot was Stan Skelton of Minnesota

  • This video demonstrates how long it takes a very powerful airplane to take off. Compare that to the few feet it takes a bush plane like a supercub and you get an idea of how amazing the bush planes are.

  • Exactly! Thanks for pointing that out.

So many people think the Cubs got off because of a strong headwind. Well, here's the same wind, and it didn't exactly turn a Cirrus into a helicopter.

  • That is very short for a Cirrus.

  • have to say, that was still pretty short for a cirrus....

  • Funny how the cubs almost fly vertical and the cirrus just plows past the marker

  • @elmataplata birds seem to be flying normally and the jackets aren't flailing around wildly and there is some wind on the Mic but not enough to block out sound which would happen in High wind.

  • LOL! thats a joke! HAHAHA!

  • @Blind648 BAHAHAHAHA. Ten points.
