The YB-52 (the second XB-52 with more operational equipment) first flew on 15 April 1952, a 2 hour 21 minute flight from Renton Field in Renton, Washington to Larson AFB with Boeing test pilot Alvin M. Johnston and Air Force Lieutenant Colonel Guy M. Townsend.

56 years after the first flight, B-52s remain their important position in USAF and will stay until at least 2040.

  • i love the look of the xb-52 and yb-52, the front looks badass, similar to the b-47, another great plane

  • Amazing, this plane first flew just a few years after World War II. AND IT'S STILL FLYING WITH THE USAF!

  • This plane is a legend and will continue to live until 2040.
