Kursk was a diaster. The Russians knew months in advance what was going to happen. The breaking of the Enigma code allowed the allies to pass on full plans to Russians. The Russians had months to plan and fortify. Hitlers generals pleaded for him not to attack. Regardless of these obstacles the Germans fought well and inflicted massive damage on the USSR. However they were defeated and lost more troops and equipment that they just could not replace.

@MidReacted Germany had beat France and chased UK over the channel in a matter of weeks. He submitted two of the most powerful nations in the world. The Western front only became a real problem when the USA entered the war at the end of 1941 long after he invaded Russia. Hitler never intended a long protracted war with any nation especially Russia hence why he used Blitzkrieg techniques and mass mechanized units. You have to understand its easy now to critize Hitlers decisions in hindsight.

@ADZ01982 No actually the war was lost for Germany when Hitler decided to start a war with the Eastern Front while Germany was still fighting the Western Front. Therefore he trapped Germany right in the middle of the battle crippling their defenses and causing even heavier casualties. And people today still look up to him as a hero, he was a fool, and a coward. If he really cared about the German people, he would have not sent them into constant battles.
