man this new stuff is definitetly a leap from HttT, and i'm glad its not like The Eraser because it's not that new or revolutionary, but this stuff is definitely interesting!
As far as the drums go, this is to handle the live (early versions of the track). The studio version will be very different. After LP7 is released, the tour afterwards will feature yet another version. Every RH song has 3 phases: Live before album release - Album version - Post-album live version.
I wouldn't take it that far, really. I've actually been thinking about this lately, Phil is really under rated. The fact that Thom is on drums, I'd say it's just for originality.
I actually feel more sorry for Phil than for Ed (who looks like he's playing equally as hard as Jonny). I mean, with Thom and Jonny taking over drums on several of the new songs, what's eventually going to happen to poor Phil? Are they going to make him play that stupid shaker like they do in "Everything in Its Right Place"? Unless, on the studio-version, there's some seriously interesting dual-drummer action, I'm going to assume that Thom and Jonny are just feeding their egos.
This is on the new album.. there's a 2nd disc being released in December.

Yeah, it's kinda grown on me since I wrote that. You're right, let them rock.

Let them rock again, for one song at least.
