  • This song originally was on James' 1976 released album Mud Slide Slim, not so new...

  • im confused , what about James playing a song that was released on wax in 1976 , being played LIVE in 1971 makes the song not new??

  • By the way, Mudslide Slim and the Blue Horizon was released in 1971.

  • true .

    April 1971

  • just a good hobo train song...thanks for the post

  • You never know for sure what James is talking about... Was he "riding the rail" of heroin addiction? Yes, most certainly. But he was also telling stories. I think he was always struggling to get free and that is in his songs as well. We can all relate to some sort of prison... a train going nowhere... etc. He is my favorite songwriter, and his best stuff has come since he has been free from the slavery of drugs... awesome!

  • @thebentley69 then that means you and your brother are very handsome.

  • JAMES TAYLOR "Ridin' On A Railroad"

  • His lyrics always give me food for thought and helps me in times of reflection. He's such an asset to the music industry.

  • I too like his early songs the best. I like the sound of the folk guitar, and he uses every little trick in the book to make the guitar almost talk. His vocals were very natural and relaxed sounding. Simple genius.
