Some people here said Liv Kristine is better suited for pop than metal. I disagree. She's so much better (to my taste at least) than generic pop singers, in fact I like seeing her on this list just as a "here is a pop-ish metal singer who blows away actual pop singers" kind of thing.

Tarja is not even close to a stunning opera singer, just a huge Hype that i dont understand. She was just diffrent and unique at that time...she is not a top quality opera voice but very average with no substance or real power

Metal like any music and any art form, is evolving.
I consider Nightwish with Tarja the evolved, superior metal. The best that metal had to give until now.
Unfortunatly, what many understood from NW was 'symphonic metal with operatic vocals",
Nothing could be more wrong, proof being that after NW hundreds of clones appeared and still do and they are hilarious.
Unfortunatly current Nightwish is as much as a clone as them.
