The answer to the question: he buys a house for 12,000 an it deprecates by 10% per annum, what is the price in 3 years?
If you do: 12000x0.9^3 then you get 8748 as opposed to 9748!!

the second question correction;
12000 / 10 = 1200. -----------10% of 12000
1200 x 3 = 3600 ----------------30% of 12000
12000 - 3600 = 8400 --------12000 - 30% value
motor home value after 10% reduction per annum after 3 years = [£8 400]

@EroTiiQMagiQz Sorry but your method is wrong. Yes I made a mistake at the end on the subtraction, as pointed out by a number of people ....... BUT the method is correct. Honest. mathstutor

@mathstutorbiz but isnt 12000 - 1200, Ans -1200, Ans - 1200 the same as 12000 - (1200 x 3) ?

@EroTiiQMagiQz Hard to explain in text. But this type of question needs the loss percentage to be worked out and subtracted each year, and the loss of the following year worked out on the new years value, NOT as you have done. Hope this helps
