In wrestling / judo / jiujitsu you cannot strike. In boxing you cannot kick. In Sanda you cannot ground fight. What is so strange about that?

Sanda came from Chinese martial arts, which include takedown wrestling and striking, but limited ground fighting. Like other sports, it was considered unsportsmanlike to hit a fallen opponent. "In the old days," competitions were supposedly held on a raised platform where being pushed off would be fatal. Although Russian Pro Sanda has allowed for limited ground fighting. This competition is an amateur event.

There is no striking in BJJ competitions in most rulesets like in IBJJF, ADCC, etc.
