1A Auto shows you how to repair, install, fix, change or replace the speed sensor on a 1995 Honda Accord V6. This procedure is similar for many Honda and Acura vehicles. When you have a bad speed sensor it will result in your accord or civic speedometer bouncing, reading erratic and just not working or malfunctioning.

  • I actually have a question about the speed sensor. Is the output a unipolar square with an amplitude as high as 14V or is it something else? I am in the need of specs of a general speed sensor. Will these specs be the same for an Acura TL 2003? Can I easily follow the wiring up into the engine compartment? Sorry for the bombardment of questions but I am curious and also am acquiring the signal to get speed data from it. Are there any other types of easily found sensors in a typical car? Thanks.

  • @DarkGiuseppe I'm not sure on the volts. A service or a Chiltons manual should give you all of the specs about the voltage on your speed sensor.

  • hey will the vss be in the same spot for a 95 accord lx 4cilender?

  • @lok0605 We currently do not have an auto repair video that shows its location. It may be in a similar spot.

  • i need to replace a speed sensor in a 1991 mercury cougar. how different would it be?

  • @182emabee We currently do not have a video that shows you how repair this part on this particular vehicle. If you have a Haynes or a Chiltons manual it may show you in there.

  • @1aauto thanks anyway.I replaced the vss already and it was not on the same spot as the 6cylinder.

  • @matthalllars my 95 does the exact same thing,i changed the ignition switch and main realy and nothing, did u ever figuere out what it was

  • @jhdezjr That could be something as simple a bad spark plug wire. If you haven't changed them in a while you may want to change the plugs and wires on the car. Hope this helps you out.

  • @1aauto thanks for the replay, it was my VSS after all. Now my gas gauge doesn't move up and down it works like it used to. Btw why does a car hesitate....
