Police have to be colour blind. On that we agree. But that doesn't necessarily mean that the higher occurrence of black arrests is proof of prejudice, it could simply mean a higher level of criminality among black people. It's sad. Murder among Jamaicans in Montreal is statically way beyond their numerical proportions and that can't be blamed on police. Blacks are victims of blacks too. So arresting blacks is also good for other blacks. Nowadays the cops do absolutely nothing anyway.

Definately. The point I was trying to make is that the police themselves do not have a very good reputation in ANY country for dealing with black people. It is sad that some poor slob gets totally killed and no one comes forward because the police have built their reputation up into this fearsome, feared and hated institution. If the Montreal Urban Community Police don't start mending some of the bridges they burned with us in the 80's and 90's look forward to more of the same.

Just because you're suspicious of the police doesn't means that you should chicken out and pretend you saw nothing when you're a witness to a murder. There's such a thing as justice and rule of law.
