Atheists Will Not Prevail Declare Area Pastors
"U.S. Supreme Court's refusal to hear Bible Display appeal is not the end"

Houston, TX - The Houston Area Pastor Council issued the following statement in response to the decision announced yesterday by the U.S. Supreme Court not to hear an appeal of the Fifth U.S. Circuit's decision on Staley v. Harris County. The lower court refused to vacate Judge Sim Lake's order removing the Bible from the Mosher Monument in front of the old county civil courthouse.

"The determination that to have a Bible on display in a private monument is unconstitutional, was from the beginning a rejection of our history, the First Amendment and even current case law. Judge Sim Lake's decision was terribly flawed and unfortunately has survived the appellate process.

However, the secularists and atheists represented by Kay Staley and her anti-religious legal hounds will find this a temporary victory. The religious freedom bought and paid for by the lives, fortunes and sacred honor of our ancestors will not be so easily stolen. Enemies of Christianity have been trying to silence the church for two thousand years and remove the Bible from influence for a millennium.

The fact is that the simple removal of one Bible from a relatively obscure display will not make the Bible less accessible to the people; however this case has always been about symbolism. The Bible in the display represented William Mosher's faith which inspired his public philanthropy that in turn has blessed thousands of lives. Its public placement meant that we as a people honored him as well as his faith, understanding that they are inseparable.

The Bible has stood as a foundational source of our morals, laws and liberty since Rev. Robert Hunt placed a cross in the sand at Cape Henry, Virginia in 1607 and it has been tragically left to our generation to turn our back on our heritage. Supreme Courts, Presidents and most importantly "We, The People" have revered the Bible in this country for four hundred years.

We send notice to those who would steal this heritage, undermine our national foundations and attack the public expression of faith that they may have won this skirmish, however they will lose the war.

We will continue to fight in the courts, in the legislative chambers and in the hearts of the people. Most importantly, we trust in a God who will not be silenced by legal decree. We, like our forefathers, are willing to lay down our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor for our God, our country and our families."

  • If Christianity can take over then it isn't too far away for Islam to take over... THATS WHY RELIGION AND STATE MUST BE SEPARATE... It's as much to protect people to have their different beliefs as it is to stop religion taking over... I'd fight and die so people can believe what they want and I'm an atheist...

  • Saying "remove the bile" instead of "remove the bible" was a beautiful freudian slip. lol

  • One day there will be a destruction of all not Christian Praise God the Living Jesus. It' gonna be bloody and I'm ready to fight!

  • Thanks for posting this video

  • Exactly, those who fought the idiots the hardest who supported the Morons of Columbus in putting god on our money both times, changing the pledge from the way the pastor that wrote it wanted it and our national motto were all religious leaders & orgs.

  • 2007 World Almanac counts about 260k Christian churches in US. But how many is that? OK,if you added all of the following (worldwide)---McDonalds, Burger King, Taco Bell, JackNdaBox, Wendy's, 711s, PLUS all the ATMs in the USA of BankOfAmerica, Wells Fargo, Citibank, & Chase---you would still not surpass the nbr of Xn churches in the US. So why can't Xns get their message out effectively without govt assistance?

  • Xns always become upset when they learn that the state cannot endorse their particular religious beliefs. But you'd think by their shrill protests that civilization itself was coming to an end. Relax Christians! Chill out! Your religious beliefs will always be welcome because there will always be more stupid, uneducated, (or lazy) people than smart ones. Check this out: I was compiling some statistics lately...

  • I learned recently that it was the Baptists who became among Jefferson's strongest supporters in his bill for religious freedom in Virginia, after their harsh treatment for years by the state sponsored Anglicans. And now baptists are the largest protestant denomination in the country.

  • Amazing isn't it...? The 1st ammendment that separates church from state actually protects religion and at the same time stops your US becoming an Islamic/christian state... We don't have that in the UK and I'm worried I can tell yer...

  • "Atheists will not prevail", most who fight separation of church and state the strongest and for the longest are religious leaders like the AU.

What do they mean by this ignorant statement?
