  • You make it look easy. for someone 48 years old sitting here thinking about getting a guitar for the first time :D

  • @goldencountry

I started at 46... bite the bullet and bought a martin with my tax refund. Been 3 years now and never looked back. I can now sing and play solo in coffee house and farmers market. Like as it said in the NIKE ad.... JUST DO IT.... ;>)

  • Bluegrass guitar is not played over the soundhole. It makes the sound to mellow and lacking attack. You should be 2/3 way from the bridge to the soundhole.

  • @goldencountry old. after you turn 21, your body and your brain slowly start deteriorating, which would make it harder for you to learn. Also it might have something to do with alcohol.

  • @goldencountry i hope you got the guitar.

  • question, i dont use a pick and cant...strum right? ive got finger pick style playing guitar. could i down strum the base notes with my thumb and up stroke with my middle finger?

i would think it could. but sometimes the direction of the stroke determines the quality of sound...

im learning blue grass. im self taught. never really listened to blue grass before. but its almost like the way i play. so this seems easier for me to learn.

    thanks a lot.

  • You may think my question is stupid but here we go...why is the name of this Bluegrass??

    nice class teacher...=)

    Thank you

  • his guitar is fucking amazing, well kept up, looks new, sounds new, good choice of strings, well done dude

  • I got scratches all over my pick guard! But, having played this rhythm for years, using upstrokes and speeding it up is interesting. It sounds like a bluegrass john lee hooker fusion.

  • You, sir, are a dumb ass, it's for playing. I'm sure he spends extensive amounts of time clipping and shaping them to just the right length for his musical endeavors. I mean really, we're you serious?

  • i thought it was nicely explained. he has a nice calm tone to his voice thats easy to listen to.
