"Could it be I'm Falling in Love" is a 1972 song recorded by the American R&B vocal group The Spinners (known as "Detroit Spinners" in the UK). The song was co-written by Melvin and Mervin Steals who were two songwriter brothers working for Atlantic, who were sometimes credited as "Mystro and Lyric." It was produced by Thom Bell. Bobby Smith sings lead through most of the song while Philippé Wynne handles vocal duties on the song's outro. Released as the follow-up single to the group's first hit for Atlantic Records, I'll Be Around, Could it be I'm Falling in Love would equal the success of its predecessor, peaking at number one on the R&B chart and number four on the Billboard Pop Singles chart and selling over one million copies. The song also found success in the UK, peaking at number eleven on the UK Singles Chart.

  • Always dressed like gentleman, and no cussing in any of their songs. Take me back to the good ole days anytime. I so want to live again in that carefree beautiful time where people were nice and children were respectful.

  • Love The Spinners!!! I've got to see them in concert while they have 2 original members left. Bobby Smith is the man!

  • Smooth and beautiful! I so wish there was a similar performance from this era of "Games People Play!"

  • I was a high schooler when this was recorded. What great music back then. These guys could not only sing but the movements and how the were dressed was the full package for entertainment. Very hard to find this purity of performing today. Now this was talent. Many of the so called super stars of today don't come close to this.

  • @vand133 A famous hubcap from the 50's

  • whats a sspinner

  • @SHGlover007 Gonna see 'em tomorrow at a free beni show here in the "D."

  • To this day, The Spinnrs represent the dignified side of soul music. Very classy, elegant & soulful. And this song shows every side of that soul, class and dignity....

  • OMG---I LOVED this--thanks so much for posting!!!

  • I'm dancing--love it, thanks coquiguaca. I like it --it is not just a lip sync of the studio issue recording. This is a passion filled live performance, with great sport jackets. Pure 70's Liquid Gold.

  • Ah, they don't make'm like this anymore.

    No Autotune needed either.

  • If been listening to oldies music since the 90's growing up. Even tho i haven't lived in the 60's70's or 80's i realized that no other race could to black music!! This is music at it's purest form and this makes me proud to an african american.
