All the steps needed to get your comic books ready to be shipped to a binder.

I am not a professional binder, I am just a comic book reader who has sent many of his own comics to get bound. I was aware of binding for a long time, but was hesitant to try it for myself because I didn't know what preparation was needed. I created this tutorial to help beginners like I was.

  • can you showcase or show off some of your bound volumes?

  • @comicbookfan1234 Sorry for the late reply. I will take some pictures this week and put up a link for them. I got my first batch of bound volumes back from Houchen Bindery this past month. they turned out great and I will have pictures up soon!

  • where do you get your comics binded. how would i find a binder.

  • @marcus29 I used to use a place called Library Binding but now that they have shutdown I am going to start sending my comics to Houchen Bindery. I've heard only good things about them so far.

  • I find it easier to trim superfluous pages and back covers before removing staples. Also, not every bindery requires the removal of staples or charges extra, so check first.

Some also like to put letters pages and supplemental material at the end.

As you know, this is also covered on the discussion boards.

  • @comicsprof Thank you for the additional info! My tutorial is by no means meant to be the one and only definitive way to prep comics, just the way I find most effective for myself, so I'm glad that you offered more information. I like your suggestion of putting the letters pages at the end, I'm going to have to try that next time.

  • How do I know how to fill a binding slip? I mean, what to write? How do I know the various letter fonts and sizes the company have? etc.

  • You're beautiful :) Nice video too.

  • wow thanks for letting us know how we can also make our comic books look nice while they get destroyed.

  • Some recommended binderies?

  • Thanks for the tutorial.

BTW, please invest in a green mat cutting board.

  • Awesome video!
