No one remembers when FORD tried to build a plant in Rome and was turned down by then-Mayor Valentine. Then he tried to "revitalize" downtown Rome by tearing it apart and closing off the 100 and 200 blocks of W.Dominick St...effectively ripping out the heart of downtown and killing it. Downtown Rome isn't the same anymore. And they didn't need to build that goddamned fort stanwix either! You wanna remember the fort???...PUT UP A PLAQUE!!!

Wrong. Ever since they converted the State School to a prison, the welfare mothers and their offspring have moved into the area to be closer to the convict baby daddys.

exactly. they should have filmed some other footage. they pretty much picked the worst parts to broadcast to try to make this city look worse off. but whatever, that's the media's job, and god knows they do it well unfortunately.

I totally disagree with this show of Rome, NY on ABC News. Granted, Rome is not what it used to be when I was a child, it is not that bad off. What does everyone expect from the Griffis closing in 1994? I think that ABC should have shown more than 1 view of the city. What about the prosperity?
