"Earth Held By The Heavens" is the title of this "Earth Bowl". This unique bowl in that it has various textures and patterns not only in the interior, but also in it's undercarriage. It is part of the "Earth Bowl Series", which are hand made by me, Colleen Fehrenbach, a Chicago Area Artist.

Concept:
"Earth Bowls" are what Mother Nature might create if she were to spin her winds and fuse either sand, the stars, water, wood, flesh, fur, plant, mineral or stone together.
Process of Making:
~Each "Earth Bowl" is created by taking a piece of raw clay, flattening it on a slab roller, carving the surface then placing it in various size bowls. Next, I manipulate the clay by cutting, pushing, bending, scraping, poking and even slopping on wet clay to the bowl till I feel it has taken on the 'spirit' of something that is in nature. It is then left to become completely dry which can take up to a few days for the small bowls and up to a couple of months for the large bowls.
~Glazed Fired to 2336 degrees Fahrenheit
*This Earth Bowl is not food safe due to a small uplift of clay in the center of the bowl. This is patched with grout to make a safe seam.
