I routinely balance salt shakers on restaurant tables. It takes a little practice, but just about anyone can do it. just sprinkle a tiny bit (a few grains) of salt. Use 1 or 2 grains to assist in the balancing. All you need is the center of gravity and 3 points of contact. Some people claim there is a trick to it, like you need to use the salt shakers that have flat beveled edges, or something like that: to prove that this is simplistic thinking, I balanced my LG voyager cell phone on a hard table-top with the assistance of a bit of salt.
