"A Chrono-meter of the Heart: A Chora-l Attempt to a Digital Story.."

This project/experiment did not have the sole purpose of only telling a story. Its overriding prerogative was to explore and create by using the themes and methods that I find most interesting in the rising genre of Digital Writing and Electracy. In the act of creation, I was to use an aura/mood that would interest me as the writer/composer, but also the reader/audience. In this piece, I chose to focus on the aura of time.
A good starting point, and proponent of this content, was a vocabulary word of the field chora. Invented by Gregory Ulmer, the term implies safe passage in which Being and Becoming coexist harmoniously, the existence of someone/something and its own potential, not being corrupted or praised, a neutrality of sorts. re/Mixing chora with time, presented me with a momentous opportunity to explore memory.
Bringing my personal experience into the art, when I thought about time, Chrono came to mind. Ive played a video game produced by Square Enix called Chrono Cross that very much dealt with a theme of time/reality/memory, and Ive also seen an anime series called Chrono Crusade that deals with time in the way that one is affected by choices whenever they come to a fork in the road. A chronometer is an instrument that deals with keeping/informing time, and the device that the girl holds in the video clips used (from Chrono Crusade) is very akin to a chronometer in the sense that the device keeps track of the time the girl has left to live and the life/energy/power that it gives the other main character, Chrno.
Another video game (made by Square Enix and Disney), Kingdom Hearts, deals with memory in its overarching plot as it relates to human hearts. So by using clips from it, the Chrono objects, and theorists/writers I bring in personal experience, pop culture, and theory to conjoin with the already existing history (time/memory/place) as a form of clipography, formed via remixing. As a future fiction writer and a worker of digital communications, this project energized me rejuvenated my heart, much like a chrono-meter. And by reading/researching people like Paul Miller (DJ Spooky aka that Subliminal Kid), Poul Anderson, Gregory Ulmer, Robert Scholes, Jeff Rice, and John Gardner I am finally able to converge academia with my past, present, and future moods to recreate an experience that will allow readers an escape that is still connected and wholly relevant to their life. And in the act of remixing and creating via electracy and digital writing, literacy is reborn/renewed/refreshed to a new page in its journey to a way of understanding meaning via electrical currents/methods/ideas.
