I wouldn't say the band is too large... its a marching band, meant for playing on a football field and not a gymnasium.

im playing this song in my band; which is Middle School! this band did a great job!

@Glasshouse27 F*** You Sir..Have a nice day :)

Carried the essence of the song as marching band could do, I like the song and do it it as a fun karaoke song.

Personally I liked it. Thanks for posting. I don't understand the negative comments. It's a high school marching band, and they did a great job. You think it's easy for a HS band to play rock and roll?
-
@jzcrandall.....our hs band is just stupid they get all the att. and us footballs players get nothing..

I was a jock in high school, but I still love listening to bands.

our 5th and 6th grade concert band is playing this.... we would get squished playing against them...
Is this in Upper Darby, where Todd Rundgren went to school?
The name is Hillard Darby. I just thought there might be a connection.

@pnolanrn Nope. Upper Darby is in Pennsylvania. We are in Hilliard, Ohio.

A large band like this one is clearly TOO LARGE and therefore unwieldy and awkward. Even the drum introduction was BAD - at least that could have been much better. The director needed to listen to the original to make changes.

You are right that it was too large. That is no longer the case since we just opened the third high school. You do need to realize that this was in a gymnasium with 250 band members and there is a bad echo with my video camera. A marching band can't sound like the original since it wasn't originally a marching band song. That's why it's called and arrangement.

Why do marching bands always ruin songs?

Why do you listen to marching band songs if you don't like the arrangement? Marching bands and rock bands are totally different, they will not sound the same.
