My cat Duster having a coughing attack. I thought it was feline asthma. The vet said it could be that, or possibly feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (enlarged heart). X-rays showed a lot of either inflammation or fluid in his lungs.

  • I'm really sorry to hear about your cat. Pretty certain it's just the asthma on mine.

  • i wish the best for your cat :)

  • @AmandaKuhnhenn Thanks. It absolutely did end up being feline asthma. A bronchial dilator plus some steroids cleared it up.

  • I hope it's not hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. My cat coughed just like that and I thought it was furballs :( turns out it was that heart thing you mentioned which caused him to form a blood clot and it traveled down and caused his legs to be paralyzed and a lot of pain so we rushed him to the emergency and after pain meds were given to him and a diagnosis was made we had him put to sleep :( I just wouldn't want your cat to suffer like that so I wonder if they can do an ultrasound on your kitty?
