What I'm curious about is whether the rats were originally feral or if they are descended from domesticated stock. I'm guessing feral because of the coloration, personally.
I keep a small number of pet rats and they're very lovely (and surprisingly clean) creatures, but even I have to admit that this is a bit much. Animal hoarding is a strange behavior for sure.
Or, one could purchase a humane trap (one that doesn't kill the rat), in order to trap food for one's large collection of snakes & cats. :D
The inside of that house must be worse than any horror story. But I am shocked by not only the complete ineptitude shown by many in the LA government, but by State Farm's willingness to *defend* this insanity.
omg i used to walk y that house when i was little and me and my friend were always wondering y none of the lights were on and we forgot bout it but now this is just disgusting

Well yeah, the problem is just them sneaking into your space and getting into your food, etc...
And in this case, the sheer numbers are NOT a good thing.
