@curlywatts77 I think what you're saying's a myth how you feel about it. Maybe years and years ago but reality is different now. Quebecers are not so different than some other cultures as far as tolerance. There's good people and morons in any culture or country. And I think you misinterpreted Quebecfringants' sentence; you read what YOU wanted to read. He merely said "I don't think these Toronto ppl understood a word". I don't think he was trying to be cocky or intolerant at all. Take it easy!
@curlywatts77 I understand completely what you mean but I don't know if you've traveled around the province of Quebec, but when you go outside of Montreal, people are a lot more friendly and a lot more open minded. I can tell you that I'm a Quebecer and I get insulted by jerks who think that they're the center of the earth but believe me, outside of Montreal, that's a minority who act like that.
@quebecfringants I'm an anglo who studied french through school, then spent spent 5 years at uni in Montreal. je voulais m'intégrer, mais c'était impossible. It was a valuable lesson. Above all I learned that Quebecers (not all, but the predominant culture) are intolerant xenophobes who think that they're somehow better than everyone else. I met some lovely people there, but more often I was insulted in the street because I had red hair and freckles obviously wasn't quebecois.
@quebecfringants - on ne peut pas tous avoir l'honneur d'être né dans la société 'utopique' de Québec, mais on n'est pas ignorant, crois-moi (connard)
