In US Army, finger pointing is considered a threatening gesture because of the resemblance to gripping and aiming a pistol, so everyone got in the habit of open-handed gesturing. You should not point at anyone you aren't authorized to kill -- now you know!

It's interesting that you use some rhotic "r's"... (Hard R sounds.) I've heard several Australian young people do this on youtube. Is this American influence?
