  • aside from being a little less than well educated on the subject, you also seem to be somewhat paranoid. Tell me, if you can get up off your cheetoh-encrusted coach for a second and look out your window. Do you see black helicopters hovering over your trailer? or are there men with sunglasses sifting through your refuse? If so, continue to buy your old-fashioned lightbulbs and enjoy the light!

  • I really get a kick out the sanctimonious breast-beating of the anti-mercury crowd.

What type of lighting was in the hospital you were born in? What type of lighting was in your K-12 school? What type of lighting is used in most, if not all offices and government Buildings? That's right smart guy. Mercury... and a lot more than what's in the CFLs. But did you ever get sick. Did anyone you know get sick?

Did you ever protest the presence of these in your life?

    I would guess not.

  • Thanks for sharing.

You're obviously a deep thinker and you're razor-sharp insight is an inspiration.

  • And yeah, ALL CLFs are made in China where there are virtually no environmental regulations. I can only imagine all the toxic dumps that are being created from their production.

So I guess it's ok to keep destroying the environment over there as long as everything's "green" in the rest of the world. Hmmm...

  • A-MEN dmana3172. I Hate The Hell Out Of CFLs. Like Everything Else These Days. It Seems Like People Come Up With Annoying Idias And Run Too Far With Them. I Don`t Want The Government Taking Away My Choices. It`s Very Unfair.

  • I like them both, personaly, I would not fase out the old style incondesent lamps,I say to each his own!

  • naah. i prefer incandescent or led. flourescent have mercury and also make some toxic smell.

  • @routharoni I'm an electrical engineer. WHY do I even want to switch to CFLs? So I can save a measly 1-2 pennies each month? That seems pointless

    .

Besides I'll burn up several dollars (and emits lots of CO2) having to drive the CFLs to the landfill after they die. That's doesn't seem very "green" to me

    .

  • Just another way for the rich to get richer and the poor to be without LIGHTS!

  • I'm going to run incandescents for as long as I can because they are less hazardous when they break, easier to dispose of and IMO produce a better quality of light. Also IMO CFL dont last as long as they say and of course they are more money to buy. So in the end, its not that much cheaper in my view - plus nobody runs their lights 24-7 while they are at home anyway. Businesses, sure maybe but for home, I'll run what I like :)

  • @routharoni please address users when replying with an @ before the username so that they don't have to check your videos for replies. That's what the inbox is for. Fluorescent bulbs contain a small amount of mercury so if the bulb breaks then people could get serious health problems, and possibly death. Mercury is also very difficult to dispose of properly and is environmentally damaging if it isn't.

  • I hate these ads, cfl's aren't cool at all.
