Please take the time and watch this video closely. The excursion down
the mountain appears to be a great family experience. My family was injured on September 1,2007. My daughter had reconstructive surgery on her knee. My wife broke her shoulder and bruised her ribs/sternun.
We are still waiting for the information from the excursion company. They are reluctant to give us any information for insurances purposes.
Ceck out the excursion company your dealing with,
YOUR LIFE MIGHT DEPEND ON IT

These DH Bike Tours have been banned in Haleakala National Park as of Oct 10 due to rider injuries, rider deaths, and epidemic safety violations. Long overdue. If you come to Maui, there are plenty of other fun things to do.

the roads here are not wide enough for these large groups of cyclists. I fear for their life- not just from angry motorists, but companies that let little kids weave all over the road, and adults who mistaken think they are in some protected theme park. this is a highway, not disneyland. I actually applied for a driver for one of these companies last year. out of the 8 people in the group interview, I was the only one without a DUI. -I didn't get the job.

Finally, someone who tells the truth about these messed up people. Love this video. These tour people got no respect for the Aina, no respect for our neighborhoods. When you releasing the next video? Got my support. Close em down before they kill someone else.

Sounds like Buggy Rollin is next on this hill.

I believe my husband is the person you refer to in E.R. last week. It was not several ribs it was all on left side and collar bone. We were not a tour but an independent ride down. What is your opinion of them?

Thank you for making this video. There are so many hazzards to life and safety from this business, and your video proves it! As a resident I have always cautioned tourists AGAINST taking one of these tours.
Minnesota woman dies in Maui bicycle accident. A Minnesota woman who lost control of her bicycle during a downhill bicycle tour on Maui died on Wednesday, the Maui News reported. Karen Narveson, 64, of Mankato suffered head injuries after she crashed into an embankment on the north shoulder of Baldwin Avenue below the Maui Veterans Cemetery, police said. The accident happened at 10:50 a.m. Tuesday. She died the next day at Maui Memorial Medical Center.

Thanks for all your comments. As you're viewing other related sites you will find certain Internet names being used repeatedly under "Comments" on each site. You'll notice they always promote the activity, not as a tourist, but someone who has, "First hand knowledge." Skip these industry plants and stick to the truth. Our site will give you the facts. These tours can be dangerous. Is this the right activity for you or your loved ones? Go to Bike Maui Safety and find out. Much Aloha.
