@salsageordie ...It depends on who you talk to: Some of the upper levels are syncopating a lot, or doing holds, double time instead of triple-steps. The triple step is a transitional step. The thing is to break it up so it doesn't look static (IE: triple in place) but to give it movement: "sailor shuffle front or back, travel sideways, kick-ball-change front, side, back, etc. There should be some in there: They're there for a reason: To change direction, to gather energy, etc.
Musicality is a large part of WCS i reckon. Once the steps are sorted and you have progressed from the basic 6 & 8 beat patterns you can start translating the music. This couple make it look fun , spontaneous and effortless. Real Pros !
@salsageordie the truth is guys aren't supposed to do the triples most of the time (it looks naf), they are taught in beginners so you can learn the timing/structure and match the ladies (who mostly do need them). Once you have the timing rock solid you can then remove the triples from your footwork while maintaining the 'feel' of them to assist your partner. Of course you keep the triples where it 'fits' the music, or you can put them in anywhere else you like too. Thats what I think anyway.
@salsageordie if you look at the rhythm of their steps, the triples are still there all over the place. They're just not simple in place ones. You'll also notice that the basic patterns (step step triple step triple step, etc) get broken up and moved around a lot at more advanced levels.
Still way to white and bland go watch the Nicholas Bros. But thats how you use some hair she lets it flow.
