  • I'm a former member of the UMWA. Union workers fail to realize that they're pricing themselves right out of a job. We went on contract strike for 111 days for a 50 cent on the hour raise in pay... but we lost far more than we ever gained. The unions are as dirty as any company and if you don't think that's true, you're kidding yourself. They finally shut us down and started importing coal from Columbia. I'll never join another union. My home town is a ghost town now.

  • I own a supply company. My drivers hate going to union shops, one receiving clerk said signing a packing slip wasnt her job and refused to do it. One buyer told me she gave business to her sisters husband, even though he was 40% higher on his bid because he was family. One union worker in Mi, told us he made 80 k per year with an 11th grade education and laughed about it. Am I the only one who sees what the real problem is in America? You should thank God every night u have a job

  • @Zyworski I want to further address the point that corporations are owned by people, and many of those people are very good, caring, and honest people. Owning a company does not mean that you run a company, the issue of stockholder rights is coming to a boiling point in this country. Entrenched management can operate under rules where they control board nominations and piss on the voting common stockholders. Just look at what the monsters at Enron did as minority entrenched stockholders.

  • @wrjamescom The Clayton Antitrust Act of 1914 (Pub.L. 63-212, 38 Stat. 730, enacted October 15, 1914, codified at 15 U.S.C. §§ 12–27, 29 U.S.C. §§ 52–53), was enacted in the United States to add further substance to the U.S. antitrust law regime by seeking to prevent anticompetitive practices in their incipiency. price discrimination between different purchasers if such a discrimination substantially lessens competition or tends to create a monopoly in any line of commerce.

  • @Zyworski Corporations are owned by people, but like every other business. As for the price fixing, anyone capable of reading the US constitution knows the federal government has no such authority. And the country is moving ever closer toward electing people who respect the constitution and who will appoint judges who respect the constitution.

  • @wrjamescom There is where the problem lays, corporations are not a single party but a collective group that have tremendous political and economic influence, the only hope that a single individual has of negotiating a fair agreement is to also be part of a collective group, ie a union. You may not like having a floor set for the price of labor, but it is the law of the land and was established by our duly elected representatives. For minimum price of commodities see Clayton Price Fixing Act.
