Mike Furber and The Bowery Boys had a top 10 hit with "You Stole My Love' the follow up single to "Just A Poor Boy" that obtained moderate chart success.
Mike gained huge popularity via appearances on Melbourne based TV Shows "Kommotion" hosted by Ken Sparkes and "Go!!" in the main hosted by Ian Turpie and Johnny Young, and at the tender age of 17 was on the road to teen idol status. Unfortunately Mike suffered a breakdown in late '66 and didn't beep the radar until the early seventies when he scored a part in the musical "Godspell". In 1973, at the age of 24 Mike was dead, the result of suicide, however many believe his death was a result of a run in with the mafia.
Sit back and enjoy Mike's performance of "You Stole My Love" on episode 97 of Go!! that aired on the 11th of July 1966 some 6 weeks before his 18th birthday, and notice his gyrating hand movements for which he was synonymous. Mike would have turned 60 on the 28th September 2008.

  • Hi Dr. Pepper, This is a clip of Mike on Go!! sadly nothing of Kommotion has survived.

  • cool, please to assist

  • Looks like an ABC Australia Production. Mike made his TV debut on the ATVO/10 show ( Now 10 Network) Kommotion hosted by Ken Sparkes and this is not from that show. The girls adored Mike and his sad early passing was Australias loss

  • In fact it is from Episode 97 of Go!! hosted by Ian Turpie, not half as good looking as Ken Sparkes, however he was dating Olivia Newton-John at the time. Mike also appeared twice on Brian Henderson's Bandstand in 1969 and footage exists of Mike on Club 7 teen hosted by Johnny Young on Perth Television, before John took over the hosting of Go!! when Turps vacated the chair to join Terry O'Neill on Channel 7's "Time For Terry"
