HaHa! poor Archie! Raised racist and kinda grew out of it gradually over the years. Great character development in this show. I still think there's some common-sense folk wisdom in Archie's position in this debate though.

I agree to some extent. Even though Archie was a bigot and had many opinions based in ignorance there was also a human side to him. O'Connor brilliantly displayed the human side of Archie not only in AITF but also on Archie Bunker's Place. My take on Archie was and is that he was a work in progress from the first episode of AITF to the last episode of Archie Bunker's Place. And, to me, that's what makes him a lovable character.

The most poignant moment for me was the episode where Archie and Mike get locked in the stock room of the bar and begin drinking and talking. Archie begins to open up about his childhood and Mike realizes that Archie suffered physical and emotional abuse as a child from his father.

The 70's is when the liberal brainwashing started via the television.

Umm... We don't have a democracy. We have a Republic.

It's important to know the difference.

Roe v. Wade is evidence of that.

The only inaccuracy is calling it convoluted logic; no, it is 'straight forward thinking'. Focusing only of gun deaths is itself convoluted thinking.

Google "Higher Education Bubble". It's a lot of to explain in 500 characters or less.

TL;DR: It's the schools fault, not necessarily the students. They're inflating their costs due to the gov't backed student loans and as a result very little of the money you or I pay in tuition actually winds up in the classroom. Oftentimes, the schools are also selling a false bill of goods when it comes to long term chances of success.

We're hitting a point where college costs as much as a house.

"Democracy" has two major definitions. One of them is a government in which the people have the ultimate authority over the government. By that definition, a republic is a type of democracy.

Archie's right. The last laugh was on the writers of the show.

Spoken in true ignorant fashion. The "taxpayers" are getting stuck with a lot worse like bank bailouts and wars for oil and corporate profit. By the way, where is your proof anyone is getting "stuck" with these loans? I actually have student loans that I'm still paying and when I have to take a deferment you or any other taxpayer aren't getting "stuck."

We don't have a republic anymore either. Just a crumbling empire. Either way, you knew what I originally meant.
