The Mulleavys dreamy, ethereal collection reflected the beauty of natural daylight as the sun rises with the morning dawn and transitions into evening dusk "It was based on the great American plains, in Days of Heaven," said Kate Mulleavy, referring to Terrence Malick's haunting 1978 movie.
The Mulleavy sisters experimented with bell skirts in stiff fabrics topped with blouses or bibs layered in different textural fabrics.
The collection was a trove of unexpected silhouettes such as hourglass dresses and coats made of handcrafted textiles and structured fabrics.
The changing light of day into night was reflected in a group of beautiful draped silk evening gowns in painterly shades of cerulean blue and dove gray with shafts of wheat printed at the hem. The finale included a pair of luscious red evening coats over full sequin skirts which reminded one of Dorothy in the wizard of Oz.
