www.youthradio.org Theres a storm of gossip about R&B singer Chris Browns alleged assault on his Grammy Award winning girlfriend Rihanna. Fans are speculating about whether he did it, and if so, why he did it -- and whos to blame. Even before all the facts are in, young people are taking sides, on MySpace, on blogs, and in lively face-to-face interactions like this one produced by Youth Radio.

Many of the singers fans are teenagers, and thats raising discussion about whether they are role models, and what young people are taking away from the story. The alleged abuse occurred on the final day of National Teen Dating Violence Awareness Week. One in three teens report experiencing abuse in their romantic relationships, and 1 in 5 teens report physical or sexual abuse by a boyfriend or girlfriend.

Voices include: Ahmina James, Joshlyn Patrick, Logan Barnes, Rynesha Snowden, and Brandon McFarland.

  • There is NO reason or excuse for a man to hit a woman. IF she provoked it, he is stronger than she is and can restrain her. NEVER hit a woman. Anyone who thinks it is OK or normal needs to get their head checked.

  • "can sing, can dance", how about can kick ur ass! ;P

  • While it may be true that some women may be able to hurt a man, let's look at who we are talking about. Rihanna and Chris Brown. Who do you honestly think would win that one? Let's keep it in context. We are talking about the Rihanna and Chris Brown incident-noone else.

  • this is a sad portrayal of our youth. "maybe she did something for him to go that far"? really? you are definitely gonna get your ass beat by some so-called man with a perspective like that. these girls are young and dumb and hopefully wake the fuck up. "he can sing and dance so good, he's so nice, he couldn't have done that?" seriously...singing, dancing people fuck up too. wake up kids...

  • you must have gotten your ass beaten one too many times that you would ever feel threatened by a woman. weak ass bitch...

  • besides, some women need to get off their high horse and look in the mirror before launching character assasinations on the average guy.

fed up with the amount of aggressive men i've encountered in road rage incidents who have been fully backed and ecouraged by their 'female partners' to 'strike me' , only for me to have to resort to 'restraint' (flooring the idiot and getting back into my car).

to hell with poltical correctness and b/s women like rihana come out with.

  • i disagree, to hell with poltical correctness.

yes its wrong to strike somebody for no reason - but its a generalisation if ever i heard one that all men are 'phsysicaly superior' to women.

women can inflict severe physical harm to men too, not all men assert themselves physically on ppl. some women do cos they hang around with aggressive men who go around asserting their masculinity on others.

  • Thank You.

  • Got that right, Gonk.

Boy-crazy loony Chris Brown goons, some of these girls fans lol
