Peter Fitzpatrick (iMADEtheBBC) writes songs that deal with the subjects that pull at your heartstrings: love and loss, happiness in even the darkest hour. The songs talk about the frustration at our human limitations: the inadequacy of language, how we make it difficult for ourselves. And sometimes the songs are just about stuff.the stuff that happens and we never stop to ask how or why Theres a light at the end of the tunnel: and Peter is holding it. His debut EP Lonely Hearts & Car Parts is now available. Either directly from the independent label Shabbyroad Records http://www.shabbyroad.com from his MySpace site http://myspace.com/iMADEtheBBC. Also available as a digital release on iTunes & downloadmusic.ie He has already received airplay on BBC Radio, local Irish radio and US college radio. After 2 decades playing hired hand as a keyboard player with members of Thin Lizzy, Papa Hobo, Cat Magic and countless recording sessions as well as guest appearances & recordings with members of Pugwash, XTC, The Divine Comedy, Yes and John Lennons Plastic Ono Band . . . it was time for a change. By 2007 he decided he wanted to be more than a side man and began to believe he had something to say that would resonate with an audience. He said in his blog that it was time to be 1986 again. Thats when I last remember imagining that I could be a singer-songwriter. In the spring of 2007 Peter joined with some other like-minded artists in attending Stand & Deliver 2007′ hosted by BBC Radios Tom Robinson in the UK. The workshop and master classes were a revelation: I found myself truly performing for the first time in my life I couldnt believe how easily the songs came was it a life-changing event? Its as close as I can imagine I guess When asked about the fact that he came to writing songs and solo live performance relatively late in life he says The prospect of performing is liberating. Im not here for the money. Im not here for the fame. Im here to try and say something and to see if it resonates with an audience.
