The rest of the World (outside USA) sees the near East, the Middle East and the Far East.
Asia minor and major and all that.
It would be like us saying a Argentinian is American, well, yes, course he is but the cultures and ethnicity are completely different, so we like to be more precise instead lumping people from huge continents and sub-continents together.
