  • I saw this guy before he became very well-known. I was in a small church with students and professors who didn't know what to expect. Volodos came on stage, sat at the piano silently for 30 seconds, and then leapt into one of the most musically exhilarating performances I've heard. Everyone in the audience was at a loss for words. His Schubert-Liszt transcriptions were gorgeous and his own rendition of the Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No.2 displayed technical feats I've not seen since.

  • @GuyFawkes40 I don't really see why you do have to express your thoughts, especially if they're so patently stupid. Ginette Neveu, Martha Argerich, Jaqueline du Pre are some of my favourites, though there are a lot more. I'm not going to claim that both sexes are the same, but making a catagorical statement like 'females are incapable of expressing emotion through music' comes across as incredibly ignorant as well as sexist.

  • This is going to sound sexist, but I must express my thoughts... Females are incapable of expressing emotion through music properly. Since males are more polar, they are better able to go to the extremes which allow greater contrast between different levels of emotional expression.

  • Finally, someone who agrees with me that Volodos is the best pianist alive today. You have good taste in music and the musicians that play it. Congradulations Iaqin007.

  • @laqin007 there is no better in music....sorry, but its the truth....there is bad pianists I know, but compare the greatests is worthless....
