There is no external visual difference - the extra 0.7 L is in the cylinder bore size. The 1500HD only comes with a 6.0L - look at the steering shaft -it's HD; look at the A-arms - they're HD; look at the tow hooks - they're HD. My VIN is:
1GCGK13UX1F187333
If you know how to read them, you'd know that the U indicates it has a 6.0L V8.
AND - if you've got a cammed & supercharged SUV - let's see some proof of that... and only 8% power loss from flywheel to tires? Impossible.

I HAVE OWNED EVERY VORTEC V8 GM HAS EVER MADE, AND ON THE EXTERIOR THE 5.0, 5.7, AND THE CUSTOM 383 ARE BUILT ON THE SAME BLOCH. JUST DIFFERENT BORE AND PISTON SIZE. IN 2000 THE GEN 2 VORTEC V8'S CAME OUT IN 4.8, 5.3, AND 6.0 AND SAME SITUATION, SAME LOOK, DIFFERENT BORE. DO YOUR HOMEWORK BEFORE U TALK SHIT EVEN HAVE A VORTEC V6 IN MY VAN, WHICH HAS SAME PISTON JUST LESS OF EM

Does the cold air intake improve your gas mileage?
sweet man. i have a quick question, i have a 04 chevy silverado. i just got a brand new 2000 dollar stereo installed. which includes two 10in subs, and kenwood amp and kenwood deck. and i cannot keep a charge in the battery i have. so im going to get a new battery. i want to get a optima but which should i get? redtop or yellow top? i dont know which will work best for my truck. thanks.
NICK00065 6 months ago
@NICK00065 The RedTop is a starting battery with higher CCA, but the YellowTop is a deep-cycle battery, which is better for running high-drain equipment like stereos, auxiliary lights, etc. The YellowTop costs more, but I'd recommend it for your truck.

whats dat red thing if you dont mind me asking and what does it do?
0SpyderScope 1 year ago
@0SpyderScope It's called a DryCharger. It's a thin silicone treated polyester wrap that prevents water from entering the filter. I put it on in the winter since I removed the metal plate from under the filter area. Part number RF-1042DR from K&N.

Alright, Help a chevy guy out?
I have a 1989 TBI engine from a suburban.
It is a 5.7 350.
I want to get the 57 series intake, but it says it is for Fuel Injection, not TBI.
Will it work?
Buick97Custom 2 years ago
The 57 series is only for newer fuel injection systems. K&N does make an intake for throttle-body injected engines - the 63 series, "aircharger" intake. The system claims a small increase in HP, but the biggest difference will probably be that it looks better than what's there now. Part number 63-1007-1 goes for $160 from K&N's website.
