Words cannot describe the beauty of this song. Rafi has modified the original tune that he sang in 1952. He had to as when he sang for the movie, he went so high that he could not sing for two weeks due to damage to his vocal cords. Hence he is putting less strain here and to make it great he had to add some wonderful variations. This version and the old version are the two greatest pieces of music in the Indian film industry.

when he sings mehel udas aur galiya sooni..it sounds divine.......this is by far the best song of rafi sahab...i have the whole audio cassete of this live performance in pakistan....

I heard that, when Rafi tried to sing this song under maestro Naushad, blood was coming from his throat. I think that this song is the most complicated song of Rafi, and also a very challenging one, because it I don't see them perform this song in competitions.

@anilnair14999 I think you'll find that this is almost certainly Rafi ji at his best. Even singing live he manages to capture and convey the longing of love in the lyrics in such wonderful tones. Rest assured it's Rafi as no one else can come close....There's Rafi & only Rafi. Keep listening to all his songs on here and your hearing, mind & soul will also know the beauty , appreciate and distinguish this genius as the rest of us have.
