On January 22 at 19:32, unidentified bright light started as a point in the sky directly south of us as we drove south on Highway 1 to Duncan. It grew in brightness and hovered in the same place, possibly moving slowly towards the highway. We drove for about 4 km looking at it, at which point it was to the west and still about 1 km away (guessing). It stayed bright for about 5 minutes and then became dim and disappeared (on camera!). No idea what this is. The interesting thing is that it was so incredibly bright, like a huge flare, and it didn't seem to move much at all. It just hung there in the sky until it disappeared.
I just saw something today in broad daylight Duncan it stayed still i thought it was a helicopter but it was way too bright and too still. It looked like a star shining between the clouds then it disappeared after about 5 minutes to the left and up at an angle it also seemed too high up to be helicopter and the size of the light seemed too big for a helicopter and it made no sense A helicopter shining light in broad daylight anyways it was above the track in Duncan my son also saw it.wierd

Very very bright. When the nights are clear , which are not very common now, people should film every single sighting like this. The odds are that one of them will be truly unknown. Thanks for sharing.

Are you by Duncan on Vancouver island, others are reporting the same object with some other great footage.

check out youtube vid "military flares at night"..does this look the same as what you witnessed?..it's interesting to note that approx. 7 edits were required to come up with just over 1 min. of footage and the rate of descent is obviously faster..lol there's hundreds of burning orange "ufo" orbs to choose from and I could only find a few examples of actual flares.

also check out "chemainus ufo" which was taken on the eve of Jan22/11.

an ufo.. yes cause unidentified..... but to me it looks like extinguishing flames-flickering when the "light" gets off. I think Flare or chinese lantern or some "little" burning baloon thing.

Some light refracted off of venus and produced swamp gas that pulsated like a candle flicker when it reflected off of the clouds.
