Reconciliation is not easy in a place like Iraq.
The so-called 'de-Baathification' of Iraqi society following the American invasion, saw members of the former regime hunted down and excluded from any role in the post-Saddam era. The efforts to bring justice culminated on December 30th, 2006 in the hanging of Saddam Hussein, the former Iraqi president.
Amnesty and leniency remains in short supply when it comes to other Saddam's former aides.
Isn't AlJazeera owned by an American company now? I thought I read that somewhere about 2 yrs ago, maybe longer. So what's the message that this video is saying? There is no real rule of law in Iraq, no unbiased judges. Wouldn't this enforce the message that Iraq can't govern itself and American influence is still needed, against what the ministers are saying to Congress and in other media?

I think this whole executing members of the previous government has turned into a joke, the new government should just throw them in prison and leave them there. What good is executing Tariq Aziz going to do, except piss off Iraqi Christians
