Xie Zhenhua, vice-minister of China's National Development and Reform Commission, argued that wealthier nations should increase financial and technological support for the efforts of developing nations to control greenhouse gas emissions. Xie also claimed that China has a proven record of implementing initiatives to reduce emissions and has made further commitments in the service of this aim.

I agree with this statement - although given the fact that China is rapidly expanding industrially and will eventually become the biggest polluters in the world I find it a tad disconcerting. Many developing countries are struggling to provide the bare necessities such as food, clean water, shelter and education to their citizens let alone adhere to sophisticated global warming policies.

I think developed countries have a moral obligation to lead by example in regards to developing (and applying) sustainable (green) technologies and policies which demonstrate to the rest of the world that living sustainably can be economically viable.
