It really shocks me that Meyers came to biology and conservation so late in his life, especially given his contributions to conservation. Although his contributions were significant, I am not sure how I now feel about his uncritical approach to colonialism and imperialism. I think the best work in conservation involves the analysis of the sociopolitical / interface with conservation, when Meyers seems in the dark about. Interesting nonetheless.
