Both Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton held campaign events there over the weekend. (May 25)In keeping with the island's spirit --- a grooving Barack Obama danced his way into Puerto Rico over the weekend.SOT: Obama Where he was soon met by rival Hillary Clinton.SOT: HRC It's an unlikely stop for two candidates that have locked horns for months, trying to secure the Democratic nomination. But with 55 delegates at stake in the June 1st primary, this U-S Caribbean territory has suddenly taken on a great deal of importance.Especially as Obama looks to court Hispanics: A major voting block that has thus far backed the former first lady..Something Clinton says is because of her deep ties to the community....SOT: HRC -- "My commitment to Puerto Rico did not start last month or last year, it stretches back for more than a decade and I have worked to be your voice in the Senate and I will always be your voice as your president.
