The wife and I headed out to East Central Nebraska on June 20th 2011 for one of the last storms chasing days of the season.

As we neared York Nebraska, a funnel dropped on the south side of Hwy 34 and slowly moved to the NE. This tornado quickly grew in strength.

We headed North on Hwy 81 out of York as this super cell again formed another much more intense Tornado on the SW side of Stromsburg.

Racing to Stromsburg we happen to catch up with Discovery Channels "Storm Chasers" crew and TIV 2 as they just caught the York twister and was now heading North for Stromsburg as well.

No injuries were reported but reports of property damage were recorded across Polk County.

Sorry for the shaky video... we were getting blasted with 40+ mph winds from the inflow of these super cells!

  • I think this is the tornado that demolished my Dad's house west of Stromsburg near Polk. There must have been a line of tornados, because I have seen posts of one near Silver Creek (to the North), and another one near Bradshaw (to the South).
