We don't know what went through Mr. Gosney's mind. He became "fight or flight." All he knew was, there was trouble and he wanted out. The fact that he will never see his son again should be punishment enough...no need for us to keep harping on his less than wise decision to leave his son behind. Every birthday that his son has had posthumously is more than enough pain.

Congressional shield of protection...Da FUCK?! -__- Cause clearly, the congressional shield of protection is more powerful than a madman and his ARMED goons. Yeah, nice one, Congressman Ryan.

"He passed a note!" I hope that little fuckface died first.

Joining Jonestown was like being in a mob for these poor people. For those who survived, it was likely by choice and consider lucky also. Jonestown, one of the biggest conspiracies in American history. Watch America's Dark Secrets documentary trailer via my page.

@xmanclyx Maybe that says something of Vernon's character, but I personally don't see it that way. He was obviously not of sound mind in that situation. Nobody who lived there was.
Leo Ryan was the reason why Vern Gosney left his son behind. Con. Ryan told them that it would be easier to get the kids out through legal channels in the states as Jones had insisted that many parents sign over parental rights to the Temple. Take the kid only to have him returned and face a kidnapping charge or work with the law?
Besides, no one had any way of knowing what would happen that night. I doubt that Ryan, his people and the news crew would have left if they had.
