The Providence Effect, a major new theatrical documentary will change the way America thinks about teaching our children. It captures how one school in the inner city of Chicago, Providence St. Mel, has created the method and the environment where children learn to think and to overcome social barriers, family circumstances and financial pressures to become high achieving students.

I go to this school. It has a good ciriculum. One thin about it is that it has a whole lot of rules. Unless you want your child to go there for highschool, don't send him/her there (unless of course they can easily adjust).
Although you may be intimidated by a black school, there smart black kids, and thy're amazingly nice. They're taught to reject ignorance and malicious behavior. Eighth grade is a nice year to go there.

Graduated from St Mel...I felt hindered from reaching my full potential. If you didn't fit a certain mold, regardless of your brilliance, you were kind of overlooked. NO BLACK STUDY COURSES. 5% Black faculty...Fired a teacher who attempted to implement a variation of Black Literature...90% of contributors are Jewish/Corporate...At Mel's it was always about the school and not YOU- the student....STILL. Going through this made me understand the reality of the world, and the hearts' of people....

Inspiring. To see african americans in Chicago achieve this at one institute with the full support they need and deserve, of course the impossible will happen.
