Video footage of Mitchell Augustus Walker (aka "Didjetellus") playing a digeridoo in San Diego's Balboa Park - this was shot during my visit to SD in December 2007.

My wife and I ran into Didjetellus in one of the park's concession stands where we introduced ourselves and chatted with him for a bit. After seeing Didjetellus perform in Balboa Park for some time now, it was a real pleasure to finally meet the 'man behind the digeridoo' who is by all accounts a very warm and friendly individual who truly seems passionate about his art. We've seen a lot of street performers in Balboa Park over the years, but Didjetellus is truly a unique act who mesmerizes the crowds with his hypnotic interpretations of ancient Aboriginal music.

  • I remember IMAW from way back in the late 1970's when he worked at Reuben H.Fleet space theater. He has always been one of a kind.

  • @codebloat - Wow I didn't know this - I've been going to Balboa Park and the Reuben H.Fleet space theater since I was a kid so I probably saw him too many times - will have to mention this when I see him at the next Comic Con in SD!

  • how not to play a didge

  • @codebloat Whoa, I had not seen/heard Mitchell's appellation "IMAW" in forever. He was one of my first and dearest friends when I made my first grownup move to SD back in the early 80's. I would be interested in any of you who have spoken/seen Mitchell - whether he does have any internet ' presence'. He was always so fabulously 'technical' and scifi oriented, it w/seem logical?! Thank you for sharing the video!

  • @cactuscallahan I would love to be able to go to the next CC but work prevents fun. Used to be a regular at the CC back when it was still at the US Grant Hotel and even at the El Cortez (way back). If MAW has an online presence I haven't been able to find it yet, nor many of my other contacts from back in San Diego.
