You are mistaken Greymethod, the mailbox WAS IN FACT LOCKED; i confirmed it myself after the first take. If anything, breaking into these old aluminum vertical boxes is even easier than the video shows. I had to direct the actor to slow down her "attack" because the box opened so quickly it wasn't believable.

You should also know that the impetus behind doing this video was that our condo mailboxes, looking just like the ones in the video, were repeatedly robbed.

The mailbox wasn't locked... you could open it with your fingers. All the mailman has to do is twist that lock in the center.

Thanks for posting this and showing it close-up. I saw another video posted and it almost looked fake but I see how she got in now. I thought at first, there wasn't even a lock but I can see there is and she used the knife to lift the entire top of the box up over the lock tab. I'm a mailman in Phoenix and I see quite a few apt boxes like this, never cared for them either & now I hate them even more, lol.

wow- that's so easy! my identity was stolen last year and it cost me $175,000!!! i'm still cleaning up the mess. i can't believe my apartment complex didn't do more to protect our boxes!!!
