my 206 HDi has been doing that for a while and its gradually got worse so took it into my local peugeot dealer and they've repaired it but for a cost of £198!

You may be able to change the crank pulley (I think it is the name od the part) for one from the newer 307 models. I have a 306 hdi myself and had to change this part 3 times! Know I´m using one from an acidented 307, lets see how it works. My mechanic says I´ll have no more troubles now. Let´s see.
