@derekmimi Also, around the time he was offered the top job at CBC News, he was also offered a similar position with CBS. Knowlton Nash, who was then the anchor of The National, resigned voluntarily so Mansbridge would stay at CBC. We can all thank Mr. Nash for Peter still being on the air today.

Peter Mansbridge is very boring, bland and completely predictable. He would never have succeeded in the States.
Whenever I see him on TV, I just turn the channel. He's too dull, no pizzazz.

Peter Mansbridge is only a news reader and not a journalist. Again, he only reads what's in front of him. He has no ability to write an article on any situation. I've read his articles and they're dry. His questions are also irrelevant to the situation. They should pack him of with his buddy Neil M. to Lebanon.

Wow...how he was discovered makes his job title a joke. So basically...any douche with a good speaking voice can do the news. Looks like the people that are trying for broadcast jobs don't even need an education. And loving a guy for how he delivers the news is absolutely insane. This guy didn't write the news...he just spits out what he's told. Was exactly does he deserve credit for?

I saw Peter Mansbridge at a play, his wife was in it!

I had absolutely no problem with Knowlton at the helm. I was saddened when he left the National. I think that he was really one of the great anchors in Canadain news, from my time anyways, Peter Truman of Global gets an honorable mention.
But Mansbridge grew on me, from reporting Tiennamen to the Gorby hostage incident, he delivered the news in a professional manner. If he is leaving, the CBC and Canda have lost a great anchor. Thanks Peter, I am a fan, and wish you the best!

I believe the sound effects from the beginning/end are a Mac's volume up/Adium's user sign on or off (I have Adium on my Mac). : )

Mansbridge is well past his prime
Out of all of the people who screeched and screamed and cussed me out for the years that I worked at a national alarm monitoring centre, peter was the most polite calm and professional person I had ever dealt with on the phone despite constant problems with his system.
I've come to appreciate his demeanor over the years the more i watch

Is it true that Peter was making announcements at Yellowknife Airport when someone from the Canadian Broadcasting Corportation heard it? Then, he was offered a job as a replacement for Knowlton Nash? We should support the CBC 100%!
