This is a showcase of what Czech customs seized from holidaymakers returning from travels in exotic places with parts of engangered species breaching the CITES convention.

In order not to cause species to be depleted on this planet it is essential to stop the demand in these things. At least until they can be farmed in a sustainable way. Even certificates given by the person selling it may turn out to be bogus, and the cruelty involved in getting some of these products needs to be considered by souvenir hunters before they buy something gruesome which will hasten the demise of natural ecosystems.

  • I certainly don't think that by being a vegetarian, which is what I should be doing , is anything at all moral , it is just sensible. As far as the creator of the entire universe having snack of anything at all - it is no place for me to say anything about the matter no matter what HE decides that HE is having for lunch .

The kingdom of heaven does not consist of meat and drink . so food has its proper place in our discourse and this is certainly a borderline case :)

  • @smde1 It's hopefully always treated as a secondary issue, although the Adventists can make great play of it. It's always quite possible you kow that we wont eat vegetables in heaven either. We simply don't know that yet.

  • protein - OK - so a cow -is a big animal eats nothing but plants - and you simply see it as a source of protein - but the fact is that all animals were created by God to be vegetarian in the beginning. Gen 1:29 - 30 clearly state this and in Isaiah 11:6-9 make it clear that when messiah comes all will be vegetarian again - :)

  • @smde1 I accept that to be the case, but there is still no commandment to be vegetarian now. Jesus ate fish, and commanded Peter to catch fishes. There are some people who think they are more moral than Messiah himself because they don't eat fishes.

  • @usenetposts @smbe1 contuinuing, I'd like to say that we may regret the fact, if it is a fact, that early men hunted to extinction the mammoth. But we probably would not blame them for doing so in the way we can blame the people who oversaw the extinction of the dodo. By that time people ought to have had the understanding to protect species from extinction more. And in this day and age much more so.

  • @smde1 I think that the killing and eating of animals in a way that avoids undue sadism and cruelty is one thing - it would be nice if we lived a world where this didn't happen but we are all protein based life forms. Quite another is a situation where man, in his capacity to understand that a species is endangered or a biotype is endangered, stands idly by or assists in the irrecoverable loss of the species or biotype. I'll say more in the next bit.

  • so what about killing and eating living things - ???

that seems wrong to me - so should i make a treaty and make you a criminal - I could you know - LOL

  • @wufwufwufwuf if they are only to be used on one's self, and not imposed on others, I can't see so much harm in them.

  • man, who would want some of those things? i think living things that died or were killed shouldn't be used for souvenirs, it just feels wrong.

  • are drugs & guns OK
