When a songwriting legend like Guy Clark gives you some musical advice, you take it. Patrick Ogle and Guy Clark trade stories about acoustic-electric pickups, and Guy lets us in on a method he used to improve the sound on a Takamine that sent its sound into a tailspin for the better.
Watch the video to hear Guy explain how he improved the sound of his guitar with a creative modification, and hear Guy Clark talk about guitars he has built himself here.
I have THAT Takamine classical guitar...my dad gave it to me when I graduated from high school. He had used a spoke shave on the back of the neck and took off a lot of the bulk. He finished the back of the neck with tung oil. It still had the electronics in it at that point. Some time in the mid 90's we swapped for a while...i took his old D28 and he took the Takamine back. When we traded back, he had taken out the electronics. He's right...it sounds like a million bucks.
